Hours & Availability
Set your clinic's time zone, working days, and per-department hours, and manage the treatment rooms your calendar plans around.
Control when your clinic is open for booking and which rooms or chairs the calendar plans with. Both live under Settings → Hours & Availability (https://dentare.io/clinic/settings/hours) and Settings → Treatment Rooms (https://dentare.io/clinic/settings/rooms).
Business Hours
Business hours set the boundaries the whole calendar respects: your time zone, the days you're open, and your opening and closing times.
- Clinic Time Zone - used to schedule appointments and send reminders at the correct local time.
- Week starts on day - controls whether the calendar and the weekly editor start the week on Sunday or Monday.
- Schedule starts at / Schedule ends at - a single open and close time pair that applies to every day you're open.
- Days you are open - a seven-day grid. Tap a day to toggle it on or off. Only the days you select here appear as bookable in the calendar and on the public booking page.
- Open on weekends - turn this on to offer Saturday and Sunday appointments; leave it off to keep weekends closed for booking.
If your clinic closes earlier on one day, for example a short Friday, turn on Different hours on some days. This replaces the single open/close pair with a per-day weekly editor, where each day gets its own opening time, closing time, and optional second time block for a midday closing. Turning it off again clears the per-day schedule and the flat pair takes over.
Turning on Different hours on some days seeds the weekly editor from your current days and hours, so you start from a working schedule instead of an empty one.
Department Hours
If your clinic uses departments - Stomatology, X-Ray, or Dental Lab - a Departments & Business Hours section appears below Business Hours. Each department gets its own card with an active toggle and, once turned on, its own schedule using the exact same controls as Business Hours: time zone-aware opening and closing times, a working-days grid, a weekends toggle, a week-start day, and the same Different hours on some days option for a per-day schedule.
This lets you run, for example, an X-Ray room that closes earlier than the rest of the clinic, or a Dental Lab that only operates on weekdays while Stomatology also sees patients on Saturdays. A department with its toggle off is treated as closed, regardless of what its stored schedule says.
The Departments section only appears for clinics with at least one department-gated feature (Visits, Lab, or X-Ray) enabled on their plan.
Everything Saves Automatically
There is no Save button on this page. Every field, toggle, and day you change saves immediately.
If you're in the middle of typing a time - for example you've entered the hour but not the minute - Dentare holds that value locally and does not save it until it forms a valid, complete time pair. This stops a half-typed time from bouncing off validation and overwriting the row you're editing. Once the time is valid, or you finish the pattern editor with no overlapping or reversed ranges, the change saves on its own.
Days Off Are Managed Separately
Business hours and department hours describe your normal weekly schedule. Holidays, staff leave, and one-off closures are a separate concern with their own manager. Click Manage closures at the bottom of the Hours page, or go straight to Closures & Non-Working Days.
How Working Hours Affect the Calendar
Working hours set the boundaries the Calendar uses when staff book appointments.
Slots outside your configured working hours appear greyed on the calendar. Staff can still book into a greyed slot by typing the time directly into the appointment form, but a warning is shown first so the override is intentional, not accidental.
Keep working hours accurate. An out-of-date schedule either blocks slots you actually work, or lets staff book times when your clinic is really closed.
Treatment Rooms
Treatment rooms are the physical spaces and chairs your calendar plans around - operatories, hygiene chairs, X-ray rooms, or lab stations. Each room appears as a color-coded row on Settings → Treatment Rooms, and that color carries through to the calendar so staff can see at a glance which room an appointment is booked into.
Drag any row by its handle to reorder the list - the order you set here is the order rooms appear across the calendar and booking forms. Each row shows its type (Operatory or Chair), an enable/disable switch, and edit and delete actions. Disabling a room hides it from new bookings without deleting its history; existing appointments keep their room assignment.
Open Treatment Rooms
Go to Settings → Treatment Rooms and click Add Room.
Name the Room
Enter a short, recognisable name, for example "Room 1" or "Chair A".
Choose the Type
Select Operatory for a full treatment room, or Chair for a chair station within a shared space.
Pick a Color
Choose a color swatch. This is the color badge shown for the room throughout the calendar.
Save
Click Create Room. The room appears immediately at the bottom of the list, ready to assign to appointments.
Deleting a room is permanent. Appointments currently assigned to it keep their date and time, but their room assignment is cleared - you'll need to reassign a room on those appointments manually.
