Website Booking Widget

Put Dentare's booking form on your clinic's own website. Create a widget, copy the code, and hand it to whoever runs your site.

If your clinic has its own website, patients can book on it directly instead of being sent somewhere else. A website booking widget puts the Dentare booking form inside your site. Bookings land in the same calendar as everything else.

What You'll Need

  • Owner or admin access to your clinic's settings
  • Whoever looks after your website: your web designer, your agency, or the person who built it

You never have to read or understand the code yourself. Dentare puts it on your clipboard, you send it on, and the other person pastes it in.

Booking Page or Website Widget

Your public booking page is a link. You put it in an Instagram bio, on a business card, on a printed QR code. See Booking Page for that one.

A website widget is the same booking form living inside a page of your own site, so a patient never leaves your website to book. Both use the same calendar, the same working hours, and the same booking rules. Most clinics with a website end up running both.

Creating a Widget

Open the Online Booking Pages Tab

Go to Settings → Booking & Forms and open the Online booking pages tab (https://dentare.io/clinic/settings/booking?tab=pages).

Your clinic's public booking page is listed first. Website Widget is the group below it.

Add a Widget

Select Website Widget in that group. Dentare creates the widget and opens its editor right away, with a live phone preview beside it showing the real booking form.

Set the Booking Rules

Open the Booking Rules tab.

  • Auto-confirm bookings turns a booking straight into a confirmed appointment. Leave it off if reception should look at each one first.
  • Require email verification makes the patient confirm a code sent to their email, and Hold slot for decides how long the time stays reserved while they do.
  • Minimum advance booking and Booking horizon decide how close to the appointment, and how far ahead, a patient may book.

Minimum advance booking and Booking horizon are clinic-wide. Changing them here changes them for your public booking page and every other widget too, which is why the editor notes it under both.

Choose the Languages

Open the Languages tab and switch on each language the form should be offered in. The list is the languages your clinic has enabled under Settings → Regional & Currency.

Below the list, Disabled State Messages lets you write what a patient sees if you ever switch this widget off. Leave a language blank to use Dentare's own wording.

Copy the Code and Send It

Open the Embed Code tab. It shows two ready-made snippets, Popup Mode (Recommended) and Inline Mode. Pick one, select Copy, and paste it into an email to whoever maintains your website.

There is also a Copy Code button on the widget's card in the list, which copies the snippet without opening the editor.

Inline or Popup

The two snippets do the same booking, presented differently. Send your web person the one you want.

Popup Mode adds a button to the page, labelled Book Appointment unless your web person changes the wording. A patient taps it and the booking form opens over the page, then closes when they are done. This is the safer choice for most sites: the button drops in anywhere and nothing about the page layout has to change.

Inline Mode puts the booking form directly into the page, in the spot where the code is placed. Use it when you want a "Book an appointment" section that is visible without a click, for example at the bottom of a treatment page. Your web person can point it at a specific place on the page rather than wherever the code sits.

You can change your mind later: both snippets stay available in the Embed Code tab, so swapping is a matter of pasting the other one.

Your clinic's phone number and working hours must be filled in, or the widget refuses bookings and shows an unavailable message instead. Set them under Clinic Profile and Hours & Availability before you send the code out.

The Code Carries a Key

The snippet contains an embed token, a long random string that proves the widget is yours. It is what stops someone copying your code onto an unrelated site.

The Embed Code tab has a Regenerate Token button. Use it only if the code has ended up somewhere it should not be. Regenerating invalidates the old token immediately, so every place the old snippet is pasted stops working until your web person replaces it with the new one. Dentare asks you to confirm before it does this.

Running Several Widgets

A clinic has one public booking page, but as many website widgets as it needs. Each one is its own row in the list, with its own settings, its own address, and its own code, so a widget on your homepage and a widget on a treatment page can differ without affecting each other.

Each card shows the widget's status, Active or Disabled, and carries Edit, Copy Code, and a delete button.

Checking It Before You Announce It

Use the live preview in the editor. It shows the real booking form at phone size, not a mock-up, and the Open in a new tab link above it opens the same thing full size. Walk through a booking there before your web person publishes the page.

Switching a Widget Off

Use the switch on the widget's card in the list. Dentare asks you to confirm, because patients can no longer book through it once it is off.

Nothing is deleted. The code stays on your website, and a patient who reaches it sees the message you wrote under Disabled State Messages. Switch it back on and bookings resume. Use this when the clinic closes for a period, or while you rework the page.

The delete button removes the widget for good. Its code stops working everywhere it is pasted, so delete only when the widget is off your website already.
